General

• Start with Hello Thursday Challenge: Compliment Day: Try to give Four sincere compliments today. If you get or if you give a compliment today, draw a happy face on the whiteboard by the attendance office. Remember to wear Green tomorrow to promote awareness of social isolation and to show your commitment to creating an inclusive community. The Advisory class with the most students wearing Green will win a donut party.

• Make sure to bring cash for Bake for Charity Club’s bake sale Friday after school.

• Want to ensure your representation in making changes to Albany High School? Join the School Site Council and be a part of the decision-making process for AHS's future. We encourage a diverse site council, making sure all student voices are heard. We meet once a month after school. If you're interested, please contact Ms. Reimuller in the attendance office.

• Need help with homework? Have a test coming up that worries you? Just need help making a plan for your homework? Then come by the tables in the main atrium at lunch any day to get help. Tutoring is free and we have tutors for all the major subjects.

• All students touring Italy with Ms. DeHart in February 2019 must contact her and sign up before end of September! See Ms. DeHart for more details in Room 215.

College and Career

• Hey Seniors Financial aid night is on tonight at 7:00 - 8:30 pm in the Little Theater. Financial Aid applies to 4 year college/universities, community colleges and career training schools. Don't miss out on leaning about how to pay for your future.

• In tomorrow's college visit line-up we have: UNLV and the Academy of Art University. Sign-ups end today so register now.

• Need more help prepping for the SAT? Take advantage of either or both of the workshops happening this weekend in Albany and Berkeley.

• Thanks for participating in Start with Hello Week! Each day will have an optional classroom tie-in and a Teacher Challenge. Game on!

• Classroom Tie-in: Warm-up: What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? Can you think of a time when you gave a compliment and made someone smile? How do you feel when you get a sincere compliment? Pass out post-its and let kids write compliments or words of appreciation to each other either to pass out in class or later.

• Teacher Challenge: Try to give four sincere compliments to students and/or staff and try to accept compliments with ease. Remember to wear Green tomorrow!
