Indigenous Peoples' Day: Film Screening at Lunch 10/8
Posted Date: 10/05/25 (2:01 PM)
Next Monday there will be no school in observance of Indigenous Peoples' Day. Did you know that Albany High is located in the homeland of the Lisjan (lee-shan) Nation people? Lisjan Nation people have been here for millenia and they are still here today, despite colonization. They are speaking their language, Chochenyo, and reclaiming stewardship of their land. They ask each of us to live in their territory as good guests, so they can be good hosts.
To honor Indigenous Peoples' Day, you can attend a screening of the short film "Beyond Recognition" Wednesday, October 8th. The screening will be in the library at lunch. You are welcome to bring your lunch, or come early to grab a slide of pizza while supplies last. To learn more about the film, please check this link.
