Mr. Bryant Is Music Educator Of The Year!

Craig Bryant, Director of Instrumental Music at Albany HS and orchestra teacher at Albany MS, is the recipient of the CMEA Byron Hoyt / Don Schmeer Band Educator Award for 2025-2026. He will be recognized at the California All-State Music Education Conference Kickoff Celebration on January 15, 2026 in Sacramento. He was chosen for this top honor out of all band directors in the state of California. Congratulations to Mr. Bryant for this prestigious acknowledgement of the incredible contribution he makes every day to our students!

About Albany High

Albany High is one of the top public high schools in California. We have a diverse student body, a range of great programs including numerous CTE pathways, two AP Computer Science courses, multiple levels of Dance and more. We have State-qualifying runners, wrestlers and tennis players. We create. We think. We solve. We play.

Student Body

Albany High has a diverse racial, ethnic, and cultural population, composed of about 16% Hispanic/Latinx, 32% White, 27% Asian, 4% African-American, and 16% multi-ethnic. We have 6% English Learners and 34% fluent-English proficient students. At least 23% of students qualify for the Free/Reduced Price Lunch Program. The graduation rate for recent cohorts is around 95%.
