Block A Schedule

General

• At the September 11, 2018 Board of Education meeting, the Board appointed the members of the Budget Advisory Committee (BAC). The purpose of the committee is to identify potential expenditure reductions to meet the School Board’s goal to balance the budget and evaluate consequences (pros and cons) associated with each. The Budget Advisory Committee will hold its first meeting on September 21st at 5:30 p.m. in the Albany Middle School Library. • Albany High will be offering the PSAT on Saturday, October 13 from 8:00 to noon. The cost is $25. Pay for the test on the MySchoolBucks website. After paying online, students should pick up a PSAT Student Guide from the book room any day between 8:00 - 1:00. Students can also pay with a check payable to AUSD (with student’s name on the memo line) outside the book room during lunch beginning Monday, September 24 for Juniors. No cash will be accepted. Juniors will have priority registration from Monday, 9/24 to Thursday, 9/27. Sophomore registration will be from Friday, 9/28 to Tuesday, 10/2. All other grades may register on Tuesday 10/9 and Wednesday 10/10. If you have financial need, please contact your counselor.

• For all students and their parents interested in trip to Italy Mid-Winter Break- Important meeting rescheduled for tonight at 6:30pm in Room215. See Ms. DeHart!

• September 25 is National Voter Registration Day. As a member of Mayors for Our Lives, https://marchforourlives.com/mayors-for-our-lives/ I would like to encourage Albany High School students register to vote.

College and Career

• Tonight is College Application Night 7pm to 8:30pm Little Theater. We will discuss post-secondary options for students with the primary emphasis of this event being applying to 4- year colleges. Letter of Recommendation forms and process with specific deadlines will also be discussed.

• A free SAT prep workshop will be offered at the Albany Library on September 29, 1:30pm-4:30pm. Space is limited. Sign up at https://events.aclibrary.org/event/4321419.

• Working on your college entrance essays? Get help crafting an outstanding essay at a class taught by a professional writer, October 7, 1pm at the Albany Library. Space is limited. Sign up at https://events.aclibrary.org/event/4340667
