Block A Schedule

General

• Congratulations to Albany Dance Company who were awarded 2nd place Medium Jazz and 2nd Place Medium Lyrical for their performances at USA's Regional Competition last Saturday at Bella Vista High School.
• Congratulations to the AHS Science Olympiad team which competed at the national Golden Gate Science Olympiad Invitational at UC Berkeley last Saturday.  Against 50 teams, some travelling thousands of miles to participate, the Albany team earned a 2nd place team trophy, and team members won a total of 25 individual medals in their events!
• Don't miss your chance to send a personal card, candies, flowers, and a singing telegram courtesy of Vocal Music to your friends, teachers, and loved ones! Valentine's Grams are sold all week at lunch and after school in the atrium!
• Come out and support the Boys & Girls Varsity soccer teams as they play in the 2nd Round of the TCAL Playoffs on Tuesday, Feb. 6th. Admission for students is $2.00, but admission will be FREE to the first 50 students to arrive. You will also receive a FREE Albany Soccer t-shirt. Boys will travel to St. Mary’s for a 3:30 kickoff. After the boys game you can head over to El Cerrito H.S. to watch the Girls team play at 6:00pm.  Hope to see everyone there! 

College and Career

• Thinking about signing up for AP chemistry?  Stop by room 303 during lunch on Thursday for a question & answer session with current and former AP chemistry students to see if it seems like a good fit for you.
• Hey Cougars: The Graduate for Mas Challenge continues and we've got points on the board... This means some of you have completed at least one badge. If this is you, see Ms. Parrott in the Counseling Depart for your first reward! 

Clubs and Teams

• Did you miss our spring sports registration deadline last week? If so, do not worry because it’s not too late to participate on a spring sports team at AHS. Late registration will be open from Monday, Feb. 5th @ 8am thru Thursday, Feb. 8th at 6:00pm. Late registrants will be cleared to practice on Friday, Feb. 9th.  If you need help completing your registration, please stop by the athletic office during morning break or lunch and we will walk you through the process.
• We are currently looking for students that are interested in being a part of the co-ed badminton team at AHS this year. Online registration is open until Friday, Feb. 9th at 3:00pm. Only those that are 100% committed should register. Stop by the AHS Athletic Office for more details.
• Softball tryouts are at Cougar field this week: Tuesday 4pm,Wednesday 3pm, Thursday 4pm, and Friday 3pm
• AMC- d Hey Mathies, don’t forget the AMC is tomorrow during 6th period in room 312. Bring a pencil and a brain.
• Bake for Charity Club today at lunch in room 128 in the art building.
• Come to Room 214B during lunch for Feminist Club!
• Latino club meeting today at lunch Room 212.
• Come join Albany Stands for a discussion on sexism and misogyny during Wednesday at lunch in Room 202.
