 General


  • Looking to reward yourself after a week of AP tests? Stop by the Venture business class Spring Marketplace this Friday after 6th period in front of A and B building and purchase a selection of handcrafted  packaged baked goods and gifts just in time for Mother's Day.  

  • Hey seniors! If you need to borrow a cap and gown, we’d love to help you out! Just swing by the main office during lunchtime Wednesday, May 6th, and Thursday, May 7th. Looking forward to seeing you!


  • Spring Break "Adventure in Belize" virtual meeting next Thursday, May 14, 7-8pm for parents and students. Spend your next spring break exploring magical Belize! RSVP for the meeting by clicking on QR code on flier or go to https://bit.ly/4vUAFup 


  • English Hour is happening on Thursday, May 7th from 4 to 5 PM in the Library Computer Lab. Come by to get help on an assignment from an English teacher. 


  • Come see Space Princess Wars this Friday at 7pm and this Saturday at 2pm and 7pm. QR codes are on posters around campus. Students, when purchasing a ticket for the 2pm show, use the code STUDENTDEAL to bring a friend for free! Hope to see you there! 


  • Calling all dancers! Albany Dance Company is holding auditions for new members next Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 4:10 pm to 6 pm in the MPR. See Mrs.Baker for more info! 


  • Congratulations to Skylar O. and isaac G. for winning second and third place, respectively, in the 2026 El Cerrito Trail Trekkers' Haiku Contest. Both students received certificates, gift cards, and publication of their poems. Yay! 


  • Shoutouts to Elsa N-S and Skylar O for winning first place awards in the Dolores Huerta Essay Contest! Both students received $550 and certificates for their fine work. Isaac G also received a certificate for his strong essay. Please congratulate them when you see them on campus. 


  • Thirteen terrific Spanish won medals and certificates in the 2026 National Spanish Exam Contest. Awards went to Jocelyn C, Megan K, Leonie B, Murilo P, Maya M-F,, Victor T, Isaac G, Serena S-G, Manuel H, Nate U, Matthew T, and Andrew L. Kudos to all these amazing scholars! 


  • Students and staff: Did you enjoy hearing Mona Hajjar Halaby's presentation on Monday? Come to the library to check out a copy of her memoir, In My Mother's Footsteps: A Palestinian Refugee Returns Home. We have many copies available! 



College

  • Seniors: New $10,000 scholarship from Holy Names University Legacy Funds. Application deadline is fast approaching on May 15th. Flyers with QR code are posted outside of the counseling office bulletin board.  

Sports

  • Flag football meeting on Thursday during lunch in S3.

  • Big Cougar Shout Out for boys golf! The Cougs dominated the TCAL Finals on Monday, earning the championship after compiling an undefeated league season. Next up for this amazing team is NCS Championships in Eureka this weekend. Keep it rolling Albany! 

  • The Cougar boys volleyball team handled California Crosspoint Tuesday to advance to the NCS quarterfinals. Come out and cheer Albany tonight as they take on Redwood Christian for a chance to go to the Final Four. Match time is 7pm. Go Cougars!
