Negotiations Update: Agreement Ratified

Posted Date: 02/25/26 (04:51 PM)

The Board of Education formally ratified the 2025–2028 successor agreement between Albany Unified and the Albany Teachers Association at the February 24 Regular Meeting. A vote by Albany Teachers Association members previously approved this tentative agreement. This agreement reflects months of sustained dialogue and represents a balanced step forward. Collective bargaining is complex work. It asks the District to hold multiple responsibilities at once: honoring our staff, ensuring long-term fiscal stability, and always centering students.

The agreement includes a 2% salary increase effective July 1, 2025, and updates to select contract articles, with a draft of required AB 1200/2756 fiscal disclosure.

In addition, there is new contract language in Article 8 – Miscellaneous Provisions, Article 16 – Hours of Employment, Article 18 – Class Size/Specialist Case Loads, Article 21 – Transfer and Reassignment, and Article 22 – Children’s Center.

The attached Draft Albany USD Public Disclosure of Collective Bargaining Agreement will be submitted to the Alameda County Office of Education (ACOE) for approval. Upon County approval, the District will bring it back to the Board for final approval in March.

To meet the financial obligations resulting from this agreement, the District will bring a Resolution Confirming the District's Commitment to Fiscal Solvency to be approved by the Board.
