Principal's Graduation Message, Class of 2013

posted Jul 25, 2013, 9:07 AM by Ted Barone
I am so proud of you, the Class of 2013. The stories you have lived these past 4 years are evidence of the unqualified fullness of life. From absolute joy to abject tragedy, you have emerged as great leaders, articulate orators, brilliant scientists, breathtaking athletes and extraordinary artists. The strength and resilience you demonstrated this year convinces me that this class has an auspicious future. You are not afraid of the challenges you will inevitably face in your life. You know how to pick yourself up off the ground after you have fallen. You believe in yourselves, as well you should. You know how to live life fully, and how to take advantage of a thread of an opportunity to do something special.

I have wonderful memories indelibly impressed on my mind. Kyra Holt’s thundering kills in volleyball; Ruben Chavez’ academic strength and commitment, Damani Neal’s peaceful leadership, Treva Obbard leading the Book Club at the Diversity Assembly, Spencer and Elliot Perry at the Supreme Court, Michael Rabin just everywhere, Micha Corbett dancing and twirling at Prom, James Ren and Wendy Li arguing with a Supreme Court Justice, Oscar Rodriguez at the Lip Sync freshman year!, Felix Yoon’s relentless intellect, the glittering warmth of Tina Saadi, the starlight of Krystal Swan, the compassion of Hannah Trumbull, Malachi Williams’ amazing athleticism, and the drive and passion of Pasang Wangmo. I’ve only scratched the surface of the greatness of this class. Thank you for allowing me to join you on this ride for the past four years.

In conclusion, treasure every day of your life and every person you meet. Take care of each other, the planet that sustains us, and the beauty within you. Congratulations to the Albany High School Class of 2013.
