AHS Debater Reaches Nationals

posted Mar 20, 2011, 3:07 PM by Jeff Castle
Please join me in congratulating AHS debater Felix Yoon who, after six tough rounds of Lincoln-Douglas debate this weekend, qualified as an alternate for national competition this summer in Dallas, Texas. As an alternate, Felix will represent the San Francisco Bay area as a national debater. This honor is extraordinary since Felix is a sophomore and a first-year debater who had to compete this weekend with seasoned varsity debaters in the national qualifiers. Attached is a photo Felix Yoon with his trophy.

Also, join me in praising two other AHS debaters for their strong showing at the National Forensic Qualifiers--namely, Nina Xu and Catherine Li.

And, finally, thanks, to those who acted as judges at the SF Bay Area National Forensic Qualifiers. Special thanks to our colleague Vanessa Mason for helping on Friday night and to Ms. Yoon (Felix's mother), as well as her friend (Karen), for helping out Friday night and all day Saturday. Our debaters could not have debated without their support and judging.

Please consider supporting the AHS Debate Team with your time as a judge at future tournaments, or with money for tournament costs.

Thank you,
John Bailes
Debate Coach
