General

  1. The AHS prom is May 21st on the Hornblower Yacht in San Francisco.  Your ticket includes a full dinner and dessert, dancing and a 4 hour bay cruise.  Tickets will be sold from April 25th to May 2nd.  May 2nd is the deadline to buy your tickets.  Tickets will NOT be sold after May 2nd due to the caterer’s contract.  Tickets are $95 for all guests, juniors and seniors.  Seniors do receive a discount:  $75 for the first 50 seniors, $85 for the next 80 seniors.  All guest passes are due to Ms. Benau by 4:00 pm on April 28th.
  2. The Albany Arts & Green Festival is Sunday, May 1st, at Memorial Park from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm.  Interested in volunteering?  Contact April Yang or email albanyleadership@gmail.com  Come for a day of food, fun, games and music by the AHS jazz band and Rhythm Bound. 
  3. Come celebrate Earth Day this Friday by making a pledge to the Earth!  Join us at lunch Friday in the amphitheater.
  4. AP Exams are two weeks away. Next week we will hold a MANDATORY pre-administration session for all students taking one or more exam. Sessions will be held Monday and Tuesday at lunch in the Little Theater. You only need to attend one session. If you do not complete pre-administration you will not be able to take the exams you signed up for. See Ms. Burns with questions.
  5. The Intramural Softball sign up's has been extended until Friday, April 22 @ 2pm. You will need 5-7 males & females on your roster plus an appropriate name for the team plus a team captain
  6. Intra-mural Softball Playing Today: The Golddiggers vs The Panninin's Playing Friday April 22: The Grease Cleaners vs Erythropoietins
  7. Mandatory meeting today at lunch for all students interested in a trip to Italy 2012 at the lowest price offered. Meet in room 215 with Ms. Dehart. Prices rise after April 25th.
  8. Congratulations to AHS Student Body President, April Yang, who has been selected as a winner of the National Merit Scholarship.  This is a huge honor and achievement.  We are very proud of April.
  9. Today’s lunch menu: deli sandwiches, Vietnamese chicken sandwich, chicken garden salad, chicken taco                              
  10.  vegetarian menu: veggie taco, fruit, milk
  11. Seniors: if you are planning on graduating and want to receive your diploma and walk the stage during the graduation ceremony you MUST pay all library fines. There is a list of current senior library fines outside the library and in your English and History classes. Talk to Ms. Oremland if you want to pay off your fine with a book donation.

College/Career

  1. 10th grade college campus field trip forms for the trip to UC Davis and Sac State are due ASAP to Ms. Burns. The trip is filling up so if you want to attend please get your form in today.
  2. Attention ALL Seniors: THIS FRIDAY is the last day to turn in your Local Scholarship Application. Applications are available on the AHS website or in the counseling office. Don't miss this opportunity to earn money to college.

 Clubs/Team Announcements

  1.  Theater Ensemble and performance techs: There is a backstage tour of the Berkeley Rep next week, Tuesday April 26 at 4:00. It will last one hour. Only 30 can go. Transportation is covered. Get on the list, leave your name with Ms. Samonsky. All interested AHS students are invited.
  2. The Off Season weight lifting program for all Football players (who are not currently playing another sport) is every Monday, Wednesday and Friday @ 3:30 in the Weight Room. Hope to see you there!!
  3. Team Tibet club meeting this Friday in Rm 212 during lunch.

Faculty

  1. Please excuse the track team today at 1:15 for an away meet.
  2. Please release the tennis team at 2:30 for a home match against Piedmont High School.
