Block A Schedule

  1. Close-Up Meeting the Thursday in Room M3 at lunch. If you are planning on attending the inauguration trip to Washington DC or would like to find out more about it, please come to Room M3 at lunch on Thursday. See you there!
  2. Join the Albany Community Triathlon, a beginner-friendly event (400m swim, 10k bike, 3k run) at Memorial Park, 8:00 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012. Info and registration at Entry fee: $39 (early-bird reg. ends 9/16) – includes t-shirt & water bottle. Proceeds support Albany HS athletics.
  3. Attention to all current club presidents: remember to turn in your club charter forms to Ms. Salas ASAP and come to the mandatory lunch meeting on Wednesday, 9/12, in Rm 214.
  4. Best Buddies Club is hosting a bake sale after school this Wednesday. Stop by and treat yourself to cupcakes, brownies and more!
  5. Tardy detention will begin the week of September 17. Students with 5 or more unexcused tardies will be required to serve after school detention. Avoid tardy detention by being on time to school and your classes.
  6. Continuing AHS students may go to the book room window today at lunchtime to purchase locks and be assigned a locker. Locks are $5 and you must use our lock.
  7. Wanted: Adapted PE Pals – 5th period. Help students with disabilities participate in physical education class. Fun! Interesting! Please come to Rm 219 at the beginning of 5thperiod and talk with Ms. Henderson.
  8. Mandatory meeting for all students traveling to Europe with Ms. DeHart in 2013 on Wednesday during lunch in Rm 215. Any students interested in learning more about the trip are invited as well.
  1. Seniors please join us on for College Application Night where we will talk about all that you need to know in order to apply to the CSU, UC and Private universities. The college application night will be on September 20th in the little theater from 7pm to 8:30pm. We look forward to seeing you there.
  2. The following colleges will be visiting AHS this week: University of Pennsylvania, Whitman College, Scripps College, University of the Pacific, and Seton Hall University. Please sign-up at the Counseling Office. All visits are located at the Counseling Office unless otherwise noted.
  3. Attention Juniors and Seniors, The Alameda County Youth Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for participants who are interested in government and politics. This is a free, award-winning program that gives students the opportunity to learn about and discuss County programs and services, develop leadership skills and meet students from schools throughout Alameda County. For more information, please pick up a flyer at the Counseling office or apply online at
  4. Are you interested in working with Albany High students and earning community service hours? Then sign-up to become a peer tutor! We are looking for tutors in all subjects. Please pick up an application at the Counseling office and return completed applications by Friday, 9/14.
Club/Team Announcements
  1. There will be an Earth Team meeting on Thursday, 9/13, in Rm 302.
  2. Model UN -- Wednesday at lunch in Rm. 207. New members welcome.
  3. The Mural Project Club will meet every Tuesday starting today in Rm 111. Come paint, meet new people and plan fun activities. No painting experience is required. All delegated team members and new and interested people are welcome...
  4. Mountain bike team: Meet in room 313 Thursday at lunch. New riders welcome.
  5. Best Buddies Annual Kick-Off Pizza Party is this Thursday at lunch in Rm 219. Enjoy pizza and beverages while learning what Best Buddies is all about. Lower classmen are extremely encouraged to attend. See you there!
  6. The first meeting for Sound Crew will be at lunch today in Rm 20. If you like music or if you want a cool Bro-Tank, come by and join.
