Monday Schedule

General 
  1. Best Buddies Club is hosting a bake sale after school this Wednesday.  Stop by and treat yourself to cupcakes, brownies and more!
  2. Tardy detention will begin the week of September 17.  Students with 5 or more unexcused tardies will be required to serve after school detention. Avoid tardy detention by being on time to school and your classes.
  3. Continuing AHS students may go to the book room window today at lunchtime to purchase locks and be assigned a locker. Locks are $5 and you must use our lock.
  4. Wanted:  Adapted PE Pals – 5th period.  Help students with disabilities participate in physical education class.  Fun!  Interesting!  Please come to Rm 219 at the beginning of 5th period and talk with Ms. Henderson.
  5. Mandatory meeting for all students traveling to Europe with Ms. DeHart in 2013 on Wednesday during lunch in Rm 215.  Any students interested in learning more about the trip are invited as well.
College/Career
  1. The following colleges will be visiting AHS this week: University of Pennsylvania, Whitman College, Scripps College, University of the Pacific, and Seton Hall University.  Please sign-up at the Counseling Office.  All visits are located at the Counseling Office unless otherwise noted.
  2. Attention Juniors and Seniors, The Alameda County Youth Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for participants who are interested in government and politics.  This is a free, award-winning program that gives students the opportunity to learn about and discuss County programs and services, develop leadership skills and meet students from schools throughout Alameda County.  For more information, please pick up a flyer at the Counseling office or apply online at http://acgov.org/youthleadership.
  3.  Are you interested in working with Albany High students and earning community service hours?  Then sign-up to become a peer tutor! We are looking for tutors in all subjects.  Please pick up an application at the Counseling office and return completed applications by Friday, 9/14.
  4. The Downtown Berkeley YMCA is accepting applications for their High School Internship Program.  This program will help you gain job skills and work experience while volunteering at various departments at the YMCA.  You can pick up more information and an application with Ms. Fan at the Counseling Office.  Deadline to submit application is 9/20.
Club/Team Announcements
  1. Best Buddies Annual Kick-Off Pizza Party is this Thursday at lunch in Rm 219.  Enjoy pizza and beverages while learning what Best Buddies is all about.  Underclassmen are extremely encouraged to attend.  See you there!
  2. Debate Club today at lunch and after school in Rm. 201. New members welcome.
  3. The first meeting for Youth & Government is tonight.  If you like debate, public speaking or networking, come to the YMCA on Solano & Cornell at 7:30 tonight.  See you there!
  4. The first meeting for Sound Crew will be at lunch on Tuesday the 11th in Rm 20.  If you like music or if you want a cool Bro-Tank, come by and join.
