Block A Schedule

  1. If you have not filled out the Career Day Selection Form yet, please get a blank form from the Counseling Office.  Return completed forms to Ms. Fan by next Monday.
  2. Get ready for Homecoming Week!  Today – Halloween costumes and boys volleyball finals.  Friday – red & white day and lip sync.
  3. Friday Night Lights
    • The Homecoming Football games will take place tonight at Cougar Field. Come out and support your team as they take on the visiting Eagles from Kennedy High School.  JV game starts at 4:00 Varsity game starts at 6:30.   Admission: $5.00/Adults $2.00/Students, Children, Seniors   Remembers that all backpacks and bags will be checked at the gate!  Hope to see everyone there!   GO COUGARS!
  4. The Homecoming Dance will be the best ever this year!  You can buy tickets at the outside bookroom window at lunch and after school today & Friday for $10.00.  You must have a signed dance agreement to buy your ticket.  Dance and guest agreements are available in the attendance office.  Guest agreements are due in the attendance office on Friday by 9:00 am.  So on Friday go out and support your Cougar Football team and then celebrate with your friends at the Homecoming Dance!
  5. The Venture store is open and we have all the spirit gear.  Come on by to support your school and class for lip sync; get matching bandanas or wristbands for your performance!
  6. If you want your class to gain more homecoming points, donate now to the canned food drive.  The food drive will be located near each homecoming event thru November 1st.  We will not take expired canned foods.
  7. As a way to ensure the indoor air quality at Albany High School, and to adhere to a new Board of Education policy (AR 3514), we are asking students and adults to refrain from using items that have a lot of fragrance in classrooms or other indoor areas on campus.  This includes such fragrant items as perfume or cologne, scented lotion or hair spray, nail polish or nail polish remover, and incense.  Let's work together to protect the health of our community.
  8. IM lunchtime 3 on 3 basketball tournament starts Monday, Nov. 4th at lunch in the gym. Games will be on Mondays and Wednesdays. See Ms V or gym lobby for game schedules.
  9. On November 5th there will be a blood drive in the gym.  You must be at least 16 years old to donate.  Sign up and pick up forms in the Attendance Office.
  10. Have you ever wanted to write a novel but didn't think you could? You should do Na No Wri Mo*, the National Novel Writing Month project and try to write a novel during the month of November. It's a free online program where you can find writing buddies and get ideas, tips, and encouragements to get it done. See Ms. Oremland in the library if you'd like to find out who else at AHS is participating. NaNoWriMo begins November 1st.
  11. Attn Students:  If you are interested in a trip with your friends to Europe next year come to a planning meeting next Monday, November 4th, in Rm 215.  Sign up early, get a great price!
  1. Seniors not sure how to fill out your CSU, UC and private applications? Do you need someone to edit your application? Then stop by room 310 Mondays from 3:30 to 5pm for help by Mrs.A. Computers will be available during this time. If you cannot make it after school counselors will be available at lunch Tuesdays and Thursdays to help!
  1. Like to play Yugioh or Magic, The Gathering?  Come join the Gaming Club this Friday in the Library!  See Anthony Zaragoza for any questions.
  2. Are you planning on playing on a winter sports team? If so, you need to submit your Athletic Clearance Paperwork to the Main Office by Thursday, Nov. 7th.  Otherwise, you will not be cleared to try out on the first day of practice on Monday, Nov. 11th. Athletic Clearance Packets are available in the Main Office and on the AHS website.
