Block B Schedule

General 
  1. Mini grants applications are available at the office.  Applications are due on October 29th!  You can also download it from the website.
  2. The PSAT is this Saturday, October 20. If you've signed up, please be at school by 8:00am at the latest. Room assignments will be posted in the main lobby, and the test will begin promptly at 8:00. Please bring #2 pencils and an approved calculator. The deadline to register for the test is this Thursday, 10/18. $25 exact change or check to AUSD. See Ms. Salas in the bookroom.
  3. Free voter information workshop for those who wish to receive information in ASL or Braille at Ed Roberts Campus 3075 Adeline St in Berkeley today from 12:00 – 2:00.  Flyer posted on bulletin board in main lobby
  4. Attention Students: Starting today there will be a NEW Counselor Caseload breakdown.  The new assignments as follows:
    • Mrs. Aselstine         A – Cou
    • Ms. Burns               Cr - Ku
    • Mrs. Grogans         Kw - Robi
    • Ms. Drake               Robl- Z
  5. Please Note: Seniors whose colleges/universities require letters of recommendations, your original counselor will remain the same for the purpose of writing your letter.
  6. Get counted for dressing up for tropical day during break in front of the school today!  So…homecoming results – 1st place for both twin day and generation day goes to the seniors; 2nd place goes to the juniors followed by the sophomores and then the freshmen.    Food eating: 1st place goes to the freshmen; 2nd place goes to the seniors followed by the juniors and lastly the sophomores.
  7. Homecoming Dance is this Friday from 8:00 – 11:00.  Tickets can be purchased after school on Thursday and Friday and at lunch on Friday in the bookroom.  Students must have a signed dance agreement to purchase a ticket.  Guest applications are due by Thursday at 4:00pm to Ms. Benau.
  8. Homecoming Movie Night tomorrow, 7:00pm, in the Little Theater! Watch Disney's Hercules, sing along to the classic tunes, and earn homecoming points for your class! Family and friends are encouraged to come and refreshments will be available! Tickets are $3/student and $5/adults.
  9. We are holding a can food drive for Homecoming.  If you want to help out your class with spirit points, donate!  We will be outside in front of the school with bins during lunch.   We will not accept cans that have passed their expiration date.
  10. Students who will be 18 by Election Day may register to vote.  Forms are available in the Main Office.  Registration requests must be received by the Alameda County Registrar’s Office before 10/22. 

Club/Team Announcements
  1. The Mountain Biking Club will be meeting Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7pm in the AHS Library.  All students and parents are welcome to attend. Learn about the mountain biking season, no experience is required. Come and learn about fun rides in Tilden and other regional parks.
  2. The Mural Project Club will be meeting today in Rm 111.  Come paint and chalk the walls!  No experience needed – all students are welcome!
  3. Game Day Club meeting today at lunch in Rm 213.  This week:  Character designs and game engine demonstrations.
  4. The Ocean Protection Club will meet this today at lunch in Rm 304 to discuss poster ideas.  As always there will be pie.  New members are welcome.
  5. Model UN -- today at lunch in Room 207
  6. All girls interested in Technovation should submit their applications to Mr. Morris or Ms. Oremland by Friday October 26th. Applications are still available in the library or room 310.
