  1. Students interested in Honors English (current 10th graders) or AP English (current 11th graders) for the 2012/2013 school year need to attend one of two mandatory meetings, today or Friday March 9, at lunch in the Little Theater. You must attend to be considered for the classes. Come to Rm. 214 for questions/conflicts. 
  2. Students interested in Journalism for the 2012/2103 school year have several options with corresponding informational meetings. AHS will offer a new Broadcast Journalism course next year where students will produce television programming of sporting, performing arts and other Albany community events. A live demonstration of a broadcast will be held at lunch in the atrium on Wednesday March 14. There, you will see both the on-camera and technical, behind-the-camera skills that will be covered in the Broadcast Journalism course. Students interest in print and online journalism -- producing The Cougar newspaper on news site -- should attend a sign-up meeting at lunch on Thursday March 15 in room 214. A question and answer session on both Broadcast Journalism and regular Journalism will be held at lunch on Friday March 16 in room 109.

  4. Students interested in forming a group to visit Europe in 2013, come to a planning meeting Fri., lunch, Rm. 215. 
  5. Please congratulate the Ocean Sciences Bowl Team – Capt. Juneyoung Jeong, Morgan Chen, Kevin Sun, Tony Wang, and Amy Xie – on their first place victory this past Saturday at the regional Sea Lion Bowl. The team will go on to compete in the national competition, held in Baltimore, Maryland in mid-April. 
  6. Today’s lunch menu: 
    • Deli Sandwiches, Garden/Sandwich Bar, California Sushi Roll, & Lasagna
    • Vegetarian menu: Veggie Lasagna, Sandwich & Salad Bar, Juice, Fruit & Milk 
  1. Juniors - Job Shadow Day forms are due today. Please drop them off at the Counseling office ASAP.
  2. Attention Seniors: Looking for money for college? The AHS Local Scholarship application is now available. Download the application on the AHS website under “Scholarships” or come to the counseling office. 

Clubs/Team Announcements
  1. Key Club – today, lunch, Rm. 302
  2. Model UN Club -- today, lunch in Rm. 207. This meeting is mandatory for all club members attending the Berkeley Model UN Conference this weekend. Attendance will be taken. 
  3. GSA is hosting a free showing of Prayers for Bobby, this evening @ 7pm in the Little Theater.
  4. The following club officers need to see Ms. Salas in the bookroom to let her know when you plan on spending your PTSA mini grant money: Art Club, Sound Crew Club & AHS Broadcasting Club.
  5. Attention All Club Presidents – if you would like your club to participate in the diversity assembly or International Food Day, please attend an informational meeting this Friday, 3/9 during lunch in Rm. 201.
  6. Latino Club – Friday, lunch, Rm. 213. Come if interested in dancing for the diversity assembly.
