General
  1. Dr. Barone…please spell the word “hilarious.”  H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.  Yes, that is hilarious, just like The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee musical.  The Theater Ensemble’s production of The Spelling Bee run the next 2 weekends.  Our dress rehearsal is this Thursday, 5pm.  The Friday & Saturday shows start at 8pm and the Sunday shows start at 5pm.  The doors will open a half hour before the show.  Please come see our musical.  Many teachers will be giving extra credit.
  2. IM Lunchtime Volleyball starts Friday, 2/1 at lunch. Captains see Ms. V for schedule. Playing Friday:  Team Blackhole vs Team Clique & Team All-Stars vs Team Alpha
  3. Students interested in Honors English (current sophomores) or AP English (current juniors) must attend one of two mandatory sign-up meetings.  Thursday February 7 or Friday February 8 at lunch in the Little Theater.  Please see Mr. Purdom in room 214 with any questions.
  4. The lost and found will be donated to charity next week. Come by the attendance office and look for lost clothing, phones and other items.
  5. All students interested in a trip to Europe in 2014 (spring) please come to an informational meeting today during lunch in Rm. 215. 
  6. The People's Test Preparation Services will be offering free SAT prep classes again this semester.  This 10-week course is scheduled to start on Tuesday, 2/12.  Sign-up with Ms. Fan at the Counseling office, space is limited! 
  7. Do you enjoy reading with children?  Then consider volunteering or interning with Reading Partners, a non-profit that matches reading tutors to elementary school students.  An info. session about this internship opportunity will be held during Advisory this Friday.  Please sign-up with Ms. Fan and pick up a flyer at the Counseling office.
Club/Team Announcements
  1. The Model UN Club will meet today at lunch in Room 207.  Mandatory for delegates going to the Berkeley Model UN Conference; attendance will be taken.
  2. Dance Club meets today, lunch, Rm. 210.  Everyone please come.
  3. Tea Club meets today, lunch, Rm. 208.  Tea and treats will be served.
  4. The Ocean Protective Club meets today, lunch, Rm. 304.  pie will be served .  We will discuss sponsorships.
  5. Senior Night for Women's Basketball Team - Tonight is Senior Night for our Women's Basketball team.  Be sure to come out and support our Women's basketball team as we host John Swett.  JV game starts at 5:30pm; Varsity Game begins at 7:00pm.  Recognition of our Senior athletes will take place in between the JV & Varsity games.  All Albany HS students will be admitted free of charge! Hope to see you there!
  6. Official track and field practice begins on Monday right after school. Come to the track and be sure to get all your forms in...tryouts will last two weeks only
  7. Technovation starts this week. Some teams will be meeting on Tuesdays, some on Thursdays. We will start at 3:30 in the library.
  8. Comix Club meets at lunch in the library on Thursday. Special guest Jack Baur.
  9. Softball conditioning Thursday at 5:30.
  10. Baseball tryouts start Monday, Feb 4, at 3:45pm on Memorial Field.  
  11. Football Players first meeting/sign ups on Thursday Jan 31st in the Gym @ 12:50pm. 
  12. Spring Athletic Clearance:  deadline Thursday, Jan. 31st at 3:00pm.
