  1. Juniors, remember to bring earbuds next week for state testing. This time you will really need them!
  2. All Library books are due back this Thursday, May 18th. If you need books past Thursday, May 18th make sure you make individual arrangements with the library.
  3. Seniors, if you want to be a Speaker-at-Large at the 2017 graduation ceremony, please submit a draft of your speech to Ms. Benau by today.
  4. Congratulations to Albany's 40 Global Navigator Scholars for 2017, five of whom will be CIEE Summer Bloggers: Ellie Miki, Sarah Hartono, Ben Lo, Henry Cohen and Isabelle Bain. Other scholars are Phoebe Bain, Nicole Citragno, Salvatore Colli, Kenza Djamaa, Hannalei Pederson, Camille Lussier, Tyler Chase, Joanna Qiu, Julia Wheeler, Winnie Yuan, Casey Chan, Emma Green, Trevor Ryan, Sophie Chemla-Vogel, Qinwen Deng, Azzaya Munkhbat, Olaf Kamperman, Ezra Mander, Isabela Colmenar, Milo Ruberto, Terra Baer, Clara Soares, Amy Tan, Megan Bates, Stella Isaacs, Jason Xu, Will Church, Leon Chou, Luna Gulisano, Vincent Johnson, Jamaica Kalka, Cole Mink, Praeva Srisawat, Miriana Wasserman, and Alice Fu.

  6. Don’t miss the AHS Dance Department’s Spring Dance Concert “Time Twist” Thursday, May 25 at 7pm and Friday, May 26 at 6:00 and 8:15pm in the Little Theater. Come support your favorite dancers from Dance 1,Dance 2, and Albany Dance Company. Tickets are $5 for students and AHS Staff, and $10 for adults. They are available now on Brownpapertickets.com.
  7. Bike to School Day is Thursday, May 25. Bike or roll to school and pick up free bike gear and baked goods! The Bikemobile will also be on campus during lunch to provide free tune-ups and repairs – make yourself a smoothie on the pedal bike while you wait!
  8. Summer School Applications are due today.
  9. Barbara Coloroso, an internationally recognized educator on bullying and restorative justice, will offer a Community Education presentation: “The Bull, the Bullied, the By-Stander and Creating Caring Communities” on Monday evening 5/22 from 6:30 – 8:00pm at the Ocean View Community Room. The event is jointly sponsored by Albany Community Action, Black parent Engagement Group, Families Latinas de Albany, Jewish parent Engagement Group and AUSD. Childcare will be provided and there will be a sign-up link through the District’s email.
  10. The Albany Aquatic Center will be hosting a Lifeguard class June 19-23. You can enroll online or in person at the aquatic center. We are also hiring… Think about it, the summer at the pool? How fun!
College and Career
  1. Attention all students who have signed up to take AP Comparative Government and World Religions next year. There will be mandatory meetings to distribute the summer reading and assignments on Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26 at lunch in Room 207. You must attend one of these meetings. If you cannot come to one of these meetings, please see Mr. James. If you do not come to one of these meetings, and do not make alternative arrangements with Mr. James, you will be dropped from AP Comparative Government/World Religions.
Clubs and Teams
  1. Prospective Club is running a professional clothing drive until May 26th. Drop off clothing is in the atrium.
