A Look Ahead to Fall Sports

Fall sports tryouts are just around the corner. Below is some important information that will help you prepare for the upcoming fall sports season.


Online Registration Window (June 1st-Aug. 3rd)

Registration for Fall sports will be accepted from Thursday, June 1st @ 8:00am-Thursday, Aug. 3rd @ 3:00pm. Late registration will take place between Aug. 14th -18th ONLY.

Please be sure to follow all instructions on the athletic registration webpage. Online registration can be found @ http://www.goalbanyathletics.org/page/show/2811225-registration   


Medical Clearance Forms

Students are required to have a physical examination certifying that the student is fit to participate in extracurricular athletics. The Medical Clearance Form must be completed and signed by a physician each school year on or after July 1st (June 1st for Football). Any Medical Clearance form signed by the doctor before July 1st (June 1st-Football only) cannot be accepted. Medical Clearance Forms must be uploaded to your online athletic registration account in order to be cleared. No hard or email copies will be accepted.

Our Fall Sports Parent Meeting will take place on Thursday, Aug. 24th at 7:00pm in the AHS gym. All parents of students participating on a fall sports team are expected to attend this informative meeting. Please make it a priority to attend!

"Happy Hour" Fundraiser-Thurs., May 25th 4-7pm

In an effort to build community and raise funds for Albany Athletics Boosters, we will be hosting the Athletics Boosters "Happy Hour" Fundraiser on Thursday, May 25th @ Club Mallard from 4:00-7:00pm.

Remember that 50% of all proceeds will directly benefit Albany Athletics Boosters, which supports the athletic teams at Albany Middle School and Albany High School. We also have some great prizes to raffle off. Be sure to invite all friends, family, co-workers and community members to join in on the fun! (See attached flyer for more info.)

Need a Sports Physical Exam?

It's that time of year again to start scheduling your Sports Physical Examinations. Students are required to have a physical examination certifying that the student is fit to participate in extracurricular athletics. The Medical Clearance Form must be completed and signed by a physician on or after July 1st (June 1st for Football). Any Medical Clearance form signed by the doctor before the July 1st (June 1st-Football only) cannot be accepted.

Are you having trouble scheduling an appointment with your physician? 

Muir Orthopaedic Specialists’ annual event provides the required pre-participation evaluation for area athletes on school teams. Optional baseline concussion screenings by MOS are available, as well as optional cardiac screenings provided in collaboration with American Medical Response (AMR) and the Darius Jones Foundation.

When: Saturday, July 29, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Where: MOS Redwood Building, 2625 Shadelands Drive, Walnut Creek, CA 94598
Fee: $30*

*All proceeds from this event are donated back to the students’ school athletic programs, and a copy of the exam will be sent to each student athlete’s personal physician. In 2016, MOS donated more than $6,000 back to area athletic programs.

13th Annual Cougar Golf Classic (Sat., May 13th)

The AHS Girls/Boys Golf teams will host the 13th Annual Cougar Golf Classic on Saturday, May 13th at Franklin Canyon Golf Course. Everyone is encouraged to join us for dinner, raffle and silent auction after the tournament. (See attachment below for registration information) 

Entree Fee:
$100 per Player or $360 (foursome)

* Entree free includes dinner after the tournament

Albany Girls Basketball Camp (July 10th-14th)

Albany Girls Basketball Camp is in it’s FOURTH year of operation and is geared to provide each camper with the individual instruction needed to develop both the fundamentals of basketball and sportsmanship.  We offer an excellent program that will afford your child the opportunity to improve their skills in a fun, safe & nurturing environment.  See attached flyer for more information. 

Early registration ends on May 1st so be sure to register NOW! 

Camp Dates: July 10th-14th 9:00am-3:00pm

Camp Registration Cost:
$160 by May 1st

Flag Football Clinic (May 15th-19th)

Albany Middle School Flag Football Clinic 2017 
The Clinic is geared to give athletes (Boys & Girls) basic foundation & knowledge of football. Students will be introduced to the basic positions of football and will learn simple offensive plays and defensive strategies. This is a perfect clinic for those students who do not have much experience playing football, but are looking to explore the possibility of playing football at the high school level.
 
Dates: May 15th-19th from 4:00-5:30pm
 
Location: Cougar Field (Football) 
 
Cost: $30 by May 1st
          $40 after May 1st
